.. or accept what you are trying to offer, even though you KNOW and can see what exactly would benefit them? i feel most of the time sorrow for them, and sometimes just disgust ..
Yeah, I guess they feel like you're shoving it down their throats sometimes. If you have more of a conversation that's less one-sided I find that it usually works out a lot better & provides you with another perspective. But then again, who am I to shove my beliefs on someone if they couldn't care less?
condemning people to hell and calling them names usually isn't a good way to get people to take you seriously
Telling people to accept Jesus and go to church or whatever is not helping them. What do people really need? Someone to listen to them, hold their hand when they're sad, feed them, find a job, etc. Do that and you might find your message gets across a lot better.
My husband and I once met a couple at Natural Bridge in Virginia. They were very friendly, and we got to talking at length. We were just thinking of asking them to join us for dinner when they shoved a religious tract into my hands. That's all they wanted, to be able to say that they witnessed to us, to add us to their tally for the day or for the weekend. We were insulted and hurt.
On the other hand, the woman who did the most to help me through the first 18 months after my husband died was a very religious woman. She didn't try to get me to go to church, she just called me a couple of times a week, took me to the mtime of sorrowsovies, helped me brainstorm ways I could start my life over as a widow. She was of enormous help to me
If they don't want to hear it, then don't tell them.
Its that simple.
I.E.: If I'm Hindu, and you're Christian, you don't want me telling you about Hinduism now do you?
If someone does not want help then there is nothing you can do to help him. Move on. Many people are eager to hear the word.
You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink.
Perhaps because you butt into people's lives without them asking like an insufferable busybody?
What is it with you zealot fundies and your arrogant presumption? I think you're all retarded and are in serious need of some classes in physics. But I don't go around on the street asking if you've found Newton.
No one can ever know what would benefit anyone spiritually, you simply are not gifted with that type of insight. When we attempt to help one another we have to learn how to accept that some people don't want help or feel a need to resolve issues on their own. If you can't accept that then the only person you should be disgusted with is yourself.
when I was a christian, I never make any move if my sensor tells me not to... I think of myself too.. I do not want to stir any trouble, so I listen very attentively to my sensor if it'll be alright to share my beliefs to the person/people.
I never leave the person/people angry, I leave in peace every time I share my beliefs on anyone.
kiss azz, compromising or patting time of sorrowson the back for many of you to define my actions, but I called it a piece of mind(wisdom-we must use our brains wisely) never in my christian life will I go to someone to share my beliefs if my sensor don't give me any green light to do so.. never without a firm signal from within.
There's nothing more annoying than people who insist on giving you unwanted "advice". Maybe take the hint and mind your own business.
People come to their own conclusions.
I pity those who believe in superstition and mythology.
you can not reveal God to anyone- He has to do it Himself
all we can do is live by example- not necessarily by council
we can and should speak the truth of God in our lives but without attacking
allow God to work- you don't have to do it all:)
We feel the same way about you. You do not accept what we have to offer. We know and see exactly what would benefit you.
Your religion blinds you to the truth.
When missionaries come to my door, I help them "spiritually" by showing how much "spiritual" crap they believe. Creationists are especially fun, because I hit them with so much evidence.
It's also fun when I tell how the Bible can be read to show that the story of Jesus is just a myth, and how the mythical Jesus fully accepted slavery. I doubt if their missionary training classes prepared them for people like me.
