racist jokes everAre racist jokes EVER acceptable?

I asked a question about me finishing with someone, when she sent (in my personal view) unacceptably offensive racist "jokes"...

The majority of answers on here pointed to me being too harsh and that racist "jokes" are hilarious...

So, I ask you, are they EVER acceptable, or are these people who find them hilarious also racist???
Racism requires hate. A joke that is intended to entertain and make someone laugh may be in poor taste but it is not a hateful act. It's not racism. Judge the intent, not the words.
It depends on how PC-brainwashed your company is. I have no problem with them at all.
They're around and not going anywhere so we may as well accept them.

I'm not going to lie, I've laughed at racist jokes before (including ones about my own race)
I also laugh at sexist jokes, ageist jokes, fat jokes and so on.

Jokes are generally based around stereotypes we usually all have an understanding of, but it doesn't mean that we agree with them.

I think that unless you're sure that the situation you're in is safe to crank one out then don't do it.

I personally don't tell them.
Sure, if they're funny and it's understood that racist jokes everit's a joke.
Racist jokes are never acceptable however if we are honest many of them are funny...Especially if you are not the butt of the joke.
They are jokes, there is no reason for them not to be acceptable, if they offend you then you aren't looking at the joke in a joking manner, to understand and laugh at a joke, you must realize its a joke and not reality.
No. It doesn't make you racist. You, yourself find that the joke is somewhat true in a stereotypical sense, that's why it's hilarious.

And as for being acceptable now.. not really.
Yes. I think that people should be able to understand they're jokes. They should lighten up and get a sense of humor.

Racist jokes aren't necessarily hilarious, but they can be.

I'm not racist and I think that anybody who thinks racist jokes are insensitive should care less about race.

Seriously, all those 'politically correct' people are constantly worrying about race. People who make racist jokes often couldn't care less about race.
Technically, anything you want to say is 'acceptable', assuming you live in a free country under something similar to the first amendment. But, socially, it obviously dependsracist jokes ever on the situation, and how well you know whoever you're telling the joke to. Also, I wouldn't say people who laugh at racist jokes are racists themselves. I mean, I laugh at them all the time, and I've never excluded anyone for any reason other than me not liking them for who THEY are, not the colour of their skin or anything of the sort.

Maybe when I was younger it was funny, we don't say them nor do we hear them so I'd have to say, not anymore.

Their always acceptable cause they're jokes people seriously lighten up. You should never take a joke seriously if its funny laugh at it.
If its an insult then id be pissed but jokes ANY joke be it about race, religion, sex,country whatever is just that, a joke so please don't hold someone accountable for it.
