Are any out of the following:

-Limewire
-Ares
-BearShare
-Forstwire

Legal and work well?
If so, right your reviews and comments.

If not, please list another legal music download i prefer free, but if you don't have one- thats ok.
SpiralForg has TURLY LEGAL FREE MUSIC: The musicians and copyright holders get paid by the ads on that site.

All of what you mentioned is ILLEGAL to download copyright music from. The programs themselves are legal as the purpose is file sharing but they're not intended to download and upload copyright material.
The problem with free downloads, is that they do not pay royalties to the artists. It really is as simple as that If you want to do the right thing... buy the songs.
there isnt any free music download sites, cause they would have copywrite songs and they are your free music downloads reviewsillegal. if you want music go to napster.com. they will charge you a monthly fee or a fee for each song, but it will legal.

Free music lol downloading free music is not legal!!!
Why do people keep insisting that there is no such thing as free and legal music? There is plenty of such music available as long as you know where to look; here are a few sites to get you started:

We7 allows you to download free MP3s with short (10 seconds or less) ads attached to the beginning of each file. It is completely legal as the artists are supported by the ads.

Jamendo allows you to download free MP3s from artists who have chosen to release their music under a Creative Commons license. It is completely legal as it is up to the artists what gets released there and what doesn't; they are supported by optional donatyour free music downloads reviewsions, as well as the fact that anyone who hears their music is a potential new fan who can then support them in other ways.

Finally, many artists just decide to release music for free through their own websites. I have a blog called Totally Free Music in which I highlight links to the best such sites I have found, as well as general resources such as We7 and Jamendo.

Check out any or all of these sites, and enjoy what you find there. Happy listening!
From your list, BearShare is a legal program in that it is an RIAA authorised service. You can either download content for free, or take out a premium subscription for $x.xx per month depending upon where you reside, like how Napster now works, or you can buy each premium song without subscribing for a one off cost for the file.
